Anstruther

Scottish Fisheries Museum

Anstruther is home to the Scottish Fisheries Museum, a rightful tribute to one of Scotland's oldest industries. It features several buildings around a cobbled courtyard and displays the life of a fisherman of old.

Robert Louis Stevenson stayed in Anstruther in 1868 when his father supervised work at the harbour.

The Dreel Burn splits Anstruther Easter from Anstruther Wester. It is said that King James V was carried across the burn during a torrent by a beggar woman who later received the King's Purse as a reward.
