Cupar is an old Market Town situated at a crossing of the River Eden. Roads lead from Cupar to all parts of Fife.

Cupar became an important administrative centre and still has county buildings today. Cupar was first mentioned in documents dating from 1381 when Robert II granted the people of Cupar a free port at Guardbridge at the mouth of the River Eden.

Attractions in and around Cupar include the Douglas Bader Disabled Gardens, Hill of Tarvit Mansionhouse and Scotstarvit Tower.

In the nearby village of Ceres is the Fife Folk Museum. During the summer Ceres is host to the oldest Highland Games in Scotland.
