Carnegie Birthplace Museum and Memorial HallThe original cottage where Andrew Carnegie was born, with a museum and visitor centre attached. The museum tells the extraordinary rags to riches story of Andrew Carnegie. The son of a loom worker, Carnegie emigrated to the USA where he founded the United States Steel Corporation, which by 1901 was worth $400 million. Carnegie, however never forgot his roots and distributed his wealth for the benefit of humanity, building libraries and schools across America.
