DUNFERMLINE

abbey Dunfermline is the ancient capital of Scotland and burial place of several Scottish monarchs including Robert the Bruce. The town's name means 'fort on the winding stream', and although only traces of Canmore's tower can be seen today, the stream still winds it's way through Pittencrieff Park.
The town of Dunfermline is steeped in history, so much so that a square mile of the town centre is an area of historic conservation. In Dunfermline it is possible to walk through 900 years of Scottish History in a single day.

The town was the birthplace of Andrew Carnegie, 'the richest man in the world' and it is the final resting place of King Robert the Bruce.
